Ways to Find Size of Trash on a Mac OS X
All the deleted files and folders will be moved to a temporary folder called Trash in Mac OS. When you delete a file in Mac, it does not get deleted permanently instead they will move to the Trash. 1. Use Get Info window to check Mac Trash size: There are two ways to find the size of your Trash folder via Get Info window. Just click Trash icon and enter Command-I to display the size of your current Mac Trash. There is another way to find the size of Trash residing on your startup drive. You need to hold Desktop icon and type Command –Shift-G. Then, under Go to the folder, enter ~/.Trash and click GO. Next, enter Command-I in the opened Trash folder to Get Info on it.
2. Use a Terminal command to find the size of Trash: Using the du command on the Trash directory will show the size of your Trash. Here is the command and type exactly what is given: 1$ du –hs ~/.local/share/Trash
